Jakým stylem učíš?

I prepare student-based material, with a strong focus on creating opportunities for the student to speak as much as possible in each lesson. This is supported by listening, reading and writing tasks which are optionally undertaken at home, in readiness for the following online lesson.

I offer patience, enthusiasm, excellent knowledge of the English language (as a native teacher from the United Kingdom), and a typically British sense of humour!

Co je pro tebe při výuce nejdůležitější?

The most important aspect of my teaching is the creation of a friendly, casual, yet professional atmosphere, where the student feels relaxed and fully able to practise speaking English without fear or nerves.

Proč tě baví učit?

I love teaching English because I feel that I can play a small part in the improvement in the lives of the students with whom I work. Whether the student’s objective is to improve their business skills, or to pass a forthcoming Cambridge/IELTS examination, or even simply to improve spoken fluency, then I feel pride in making a small difference in the life of that student.

Jak vypadá tvůj ideální student?

My ideal student is a person who is curious, collaborative and eager to learn.

Na jaké oblasti angličtiny se zaměřuješ?

I focus on Business English skills, exam preparation (Cambridge, IELTS, Trinity, and more), and adult conversation for General English.

Jaké vzdělání, zkušenosti, certifikáty máš?

I am a Cambridge CELTA-qualified teacher of English, with 12 years of continuous experience of teaching English as a foreign language. I moved to Brno in September 2020 (making this move during a global pandemic was an interesting adventure!), and prior to this I taught English in the UK, Russia, Spain, Italy and Sri Lanka.

Before becoming a teacher of English as a foreign language, I enjoyed a career as a professional sports coach, specialising in cricket. I was employed by schools and organisations in the UK as a cricket coach and a tutor (training new coaches), and I also lived and worked as a cricket coach in Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Australia at different times.

Co tě baví krom učení?

Aside from teaching English, I enjoy watching/playing/coaching sport (I am a qualified coach of cricket, basketball, hockey and rugby). I also love travel, cinema, theatre, comedy and history…while my Czech cooking skills are also improving!
